Castle of Santa Eufemia (Cástulo), in Linares.


Cástulo was one of the principal Ibero-Roman cities on the Iberian Peninsula. Currently, it is one of the most important archaeological sites in Europe. It boasts innumerable heritage, including the castle of Santa Eufemia, one of the last signs of the significance of a city that disappeared forever in the late Middle Ages.

Location and Access

The Castle of Santa Eufemia is located in the southern tip of the Cástulo Archaeological Site, 8 km from Linares. It can be reached via the JA-4102 road that links Linares and Torreblascopedro, continuing along it for three kilometres and turning off onto the JV-3003 road that goes straight to the settlement.
